Las Tángaras ProAves Reserve was created to protect the habitat of two endemic bird species: the Gold-ringed Tanager (Bangsia aureocincta) and the Black-and-gold Tanager (Bangsia Melanochlamys), along with other important species of the Chocó biogeographic region.
Las Tángaras ProAves Reserve is located in the municipality of El Carmen de Atrato, Chocó department, precisely in the place called “El Ocho,” on the banks of the Atrato River.
Public Transportation:
*It is not necessary to go all the way to the municipality of El Carmen de Atrato.
Private Transportation:
Note: From the cabin of the Natural Reserve to the trails, there is an 8-kilometer stretch, so visitors must reserve transportation in advance or have their own.
